Right To Play is thrilled to announce that Sunnybrook Foundation President and CEO, Dr. Jon S. Dellandrea, C.M. has joined its International Board of Directors.
Right To Play is a global organization that uses the transformative power of play to educate and empower children facing adversity. Founded in 2000, Dr. Dellandrea joins Right To Play at a critical time, as it finalizes a new five-year strategic plan.
“Jon brings an incredible wealth of knowledge and international perspective to Right To Play,” says Right To Play President and CEO Johann Koss. “We currently reach more than 800,000 children every week with our programs. As we look to grow and reach more children, Jon’s leadership will be critical to the growth of our organization.”
As an internationally renowned philanthropic innovator, his mandate is to provide strategic leadership as an advisor and advocate.
“I am inspired by Right To Play’s work,” says Dellandrea. “It’s not just about survival, but about quality of life – play is a vital part of childhood and Right To Play translates that into an incredibly powerful tool for education. I look forward to sharing my knowledge and experiences, and helping the organization increase its impact around the world.”
As the former Pro-Vice-Chancellor at University of Oxford and Vice-President and Chief Development Officer at University of Toronto, Dr. Dellandrea’s impressive success in building alliances in the global arena will benefit Right To Play immensely.
He has previously held the positions of President of Mount Sinai Hospital Foundation and Vice-President, University Development at the University of Waterloo. In 2006, he was appointed to the Order of Canada for his commitment to Canadian culture and philanthropy.
Dr. Dellandrea took his place as President and CEO of the Sunnybrook Foundation in April 2012.
