On Sunday, June 17th at Allan Lamport Stadium, children flooded the pitch for a short game of soccer before musicians and media personalities took over for the 6th annual NXNE ‘Put The Boot In’ Charity Soccer Match. This year the Rockers team included members from Bedouin Soundclash, Great Big Sea, F’d Up, Most Serene Republic and musician Brendan Canning. The Rollers team had members and affiliates of CBC, Bravo, the Globe and Mail among others.

This year’s event was a big success, raising over $13,000 for Right To Play! A big thank you to everyone who planned, participated and watched this event; without the help and organization of the amazing volunteers both the soccer matches would not have happened.

The longest-running fundraiser for Right To Play in Canada would not be possible without the commitment and support from NXNE- with a special shout-out to Andy and Mike!  Massive thanks must go out to longtime sponsors Sonicbids, Umbro, the Queen and Beaver Public House and new sponsor York Alliance. Also, to Silvio Aguayo and his team for refereeing, our Toronto FC guest coaches Ty Harden, Stefan Frei, Logan Emory and Junior Burgos, as well as Athlete Ambassador Adam van Koeverden (@vankayak) who took time out of his London 2012 Olympics training to coach!
