Promoting Life Skills in Aboriginal Youth (PLAY) In-field Internship:OPEN (Closes April 27, 2012)
The In-field Intern will be accountable to the PLAY Supervisor in regards to all duties outlined here and will be accountable to a designated supervisor within the First Nation community they are assigned to. In-field Interns will travel alone or in pairs to remote fly-in First Nation communities in northern Ontario for up to 2.5 months as coordinators of child and youth programming.

The PLAY In-Field Intern will be responsible for the planning, training and implementation of a 4-week summer camp program in a remote fly-in First nation community in Northern Ontaion. The Summer Sun program is a camp program designed to incorporate play-based learning and recreational sport into a structured day camp program.

Each week the Research Intern is expected to prepare a presentation for all PLAY staff that challenges them to think, learn and consider their programming approaches in relation to the research.

This individual will be responsible for conducting phone interviews and community visits to capture relevant stories to help celebrate the accomplishments of youth, community mentors and community members involved in the PLAY program. The stories will be used to enhance materials for Right To Play and the PLAY program.

This individual will assist the Manager of Schools and University Partnerships by developing and maintaining partnerships with schools and universities across Canada. An organized person who can easily adapt to new situations and is comfortable with public speaking is best suited for this position. Responsibilities include: responding to inquiries from schools and university partners, maintaining the schools website and helping to facilitate workshops and presentations.

Youth Mentorship Program - In-field Intern: CLOSED
Your overall goal as an In-Field Intern will be to support and facilitate a successful youth leadership training program that will improve the life skills of youth in various First Nations communities in Ontario. This internship is an opportunity to learn and enhance facilitation skills and to gain a wide range of experience working with children and youth in First Nation communities. This internship is suitable for someone who is eager to travel frequently and spend intensive periods of time living in 5-10 different First Nation communities in Ontario.
