Right To Play/Canada/news and media/Canadian Women's Soccer team scores for Right To Play

In preparation for the 2009 season, the Canadian National Women’s Soccer Team is helping to raise awareness and fundraise for Right To Play this season and beyond.

2008 Olympic quarter-finalists and Right To Play Athlete Ambassadors, the Canadian National Women’s Soccer Team is determined to help Right To Play reach more children through their sport and play programs across Africa, Asia, the Middle East, and South America.

For every goal scored by the Canadian Women’s Soccer Team this season and shutouts the team’s goalkeeper earns, each team member is donating $2 to Right To Play with an overall goal of raising $5000 for Right To Play by season’s end.

This ‘Make Your Goals Count’ initiative demonstrates the Canadian National Women’s Soccer Team’s commitment to Right To Play as well as highlights the positives values each team member has learned through sport. The team’s contribution will go far in helping provide these same opportunities to the half million children in Right To Play’s sport and play programs.

"The Women's National Soccer Team has been a long time ambassador for Right To Play, but we are excited to finally do our part for this fantastic organization,” said veteran National Team member Amy Walsh. “We are hoping that our fans and supporters get behind us as we raise money for Right To Play with every goal we score in international competition this season.”

The Canadian National Women’s Soccer team invites their family, friends, sponsors and all Canadian soccer fans to join them and support Right To Play during their 2009 season.

Thank you for your generosity, and for helping Right To Play create a healthier and safer world through the power of sport and play.

Look after yourself, look after one another.
