At Right To Play, we believe that physical activity, well-designed sport programs and play offer a path to physical, social and emotional health. In February of 2005, a couple of university students from University of British Columbia shared Right To Play’s belief in harnessing the power of sport for development and peace around the world and started the first Right To Play Club.

Right To Play Clubs have two main objectives: to raise funds and awareness for Right To Play on campus and throughout the community.  Currently, Right To Play Canada has 21 university clubs from coast to coast. The numbers will continue to grow thanks to enthusiastic students like yourself who are starting up or maintaining your university’s Right To Play Club.

Annual Right To Play University Club Summit

In the Fall of 2009, Right To Play hosted a conference for univeresity students who volunteered their time to create and manage a Right To Play club on their campus thanks to a generous anonymous donation.  During the last weekend of September 2009, two executive members of each of the 11 Right To Play Clubs attend the two day Summit held at the Queens Quay Terminal in Toronto.  Each year The Summit has welcomed more delegates and universities; in 2010, students from 18 universities attended the Right To Play University Club Summit in Toronto, and 2011 saw the expansion of the Summit into a week-long leadership conference held at YMCA Geneva Park Conference Centre in Orillia, Ontario.

GLOBAL YOUTH SUMMIT 2012!

As part of our commitment to Canadian youth and education – and to support and encourage these students in their quest for success, Right To Play launched an annual leadership, and global citizenship summit for our Canadian University Club leaders thanks to the generous support of the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA).

The Right To Play Global Youth Summit 2012 is an opportunity for international youth to meet one another and engage in a week-long leadership conference on sport for development and peace. Organized by Right To Play and funded through the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA), the Right To Play Global Youth Summit will take place August 19th – 26th, 2012 in Kigali, Rwanda. Full and partial scholarships will be given for this unique opportunity.
