new chair of its international board

MacLellan named one of Canada's most influential investment executives

TORONTO, CANADA (FEBRUARY 07, 2013) – Right To Play is thrilled to announce the appointment of Rob MacLellan as the Chair of its International Board of Directors.

Non-executive Chairman of Canada’s largest independent global private markets fund manager, Northleaf Capital Partners, MacLellan has been an active member of Right To Play’s International Board since 2011. He moves into his new position, effective January 2013, replacing outgoing Chair Bob Myers, who served as head of the international board from 2007 through 2012. Myers will continue as a Board member.

Founded in 2000, Right To Play is a global organization that uses the transformative power of play to educate and empower children facing adversity. Embarking on a newly minted five-year strategic plan, MacLellan will be instrumental in helping the organization execute its major objectives of doubling its current annual revenue to $70 million, thereby doubling its international reach as well.

“Right To Play has seen some incredible growth and progress over the past five years and I am honoured to be in a position to help continue it on that path,” says MacLellan. “I come from the finance world and so it is gratifying to be contributing to an organization that is taking every dollar raised and turning it into a positive, lasting impact on children, both around the world and right here in Ontario.”

Former Chief Investment Officer of TD Bank Financial Group, MacLellan brings a breadth of experience that is both an asset to the organization and a testament to his belief in the impact that Right To Play is having globally. MacLellan recently traveled to the field to experience the impact of play firsthand in Rwanda and Uganda. In 2011, he visited Right To Play programs in the Middle East.

“Rob truly understands our mission and the value of our impact on children,” says Right To Play President and CEO Johann Koss. “The experience and insights that he brings to bear are matched by his dedication and leadership, and I speak on behalf of the organization when I say that we are thrilled to have him at the helm.”

MacLellan holds a B.Comm. from Carleton University, an M.B.A. from Harvard University and is a Chartered Accountant. In 2008, he was named one of Canada’s most influential investment executives by Globe Investor.
