Right To Play Ambassadors, Chemmy Alcott and Sebastien Foucan, have stepped away from their respective comfort zones to face a new challenge with Dancing On Ice. These two Ambassadors will show off their budding skating skills, in a competition against each other as well as more than a dozen other participants, until only one is left standing to claim the title.
The show began on Sunday 8th January on ITV1 and has already seen Chemmy and Sebastien succeed in the opening rounds in their battle against a range of other celebrities including actors Corey Feldman and Jennifer Ellison. The series sees the stars take to the ice each week to perform the specially choreographed routines live in the studio.
As Britain’s number one skier for a record seven years, Chemmy may seem to have an advantage on the ice, however, and most importantly, her new passion for ice skating is helping her rehabilitation since her career threatening skiing accident in December 2010.
Chemmy says “I have this massive opportunity with Dancing On Ice to do something that is going to help me get into the right state with my leg, with my sport and with my head. The first few skating sessions that I did, the coach would say 'on your right leg’, which is the one I broke, ‘go on your outside edge’. It would take me 10 meters to make that connection from my head to my leg. If I was doing that in a skiing situation, downhill, that would have been disastrous. That's why I can't just bounce back and race straight away; I don't have that body control at the moment. This is teaching me to do it in a safe environment.” |

Sebastien Foucan, the creator of free-running (or parkour) and star of several films is on track for a very exciting year. Outside of Dancing On Ice, he is involved as a consultant in a movie project titled ‘Twist’ which is a contemporary adaptation of the famous Dickens novel Oliver Twist. The skill of free-running will be infused into the timeless story, which is also scheduled for release in 3D. In addition to this, Sebastien has been working with England Rugby hero Johnny Wilkinson in the promotion of a new functional street wear range named ‘Fineside,’ which has been created by Wilkinson and his brother.
"Ice skating is very different from what I thought. It’s a difficult task to even be coordinated and balanced when you are on the ice. There’s also always about five things to remember at once,” says Sebastien. |
The French star’s free-running skills earned him a role in hit movie Casino Royale alongside Daniel Craig – and Sebastian’s looking to bring a bit of flair to the show. “I see skating as more of an art form and that is why I love it. I really want to do a really beautiful performance on the ice!”
