Right To Play/United Kingdom

Big Game 4 saw the top two teams in the Aviva Premiership, Harlequins and Saracens, battle it out in front of a record breaking crowd at the home of Rugby but the game had even greater significance for children around the world.

Right To Play is the official charity partner of Harlequins Rugby Club. and despite them losing the closely fought match, donations from the sales of their special, limited edition kits and collections on the day are set to raise over £15,000 for Right To Play.

A sell-out crowd of 82,000 packed out Twickenham and were not only entertained by the top teams in the Premiership but X Factor finalists, Amelia Lilly, Misha B as well as classical singer Camilla Kerslake.

Despite 2011 finishing with a loss for Quins it has been a tremendous year for the team and the partnership with Right To Play.  Quins currently sit top of the Premiership, are performing well in the Heineken Cup and won the Amlin Challenge Cup.  Furthermore, in 2011 the club has raised enough money to give over 1,000 children in the developing world access to Right To Play programmes that promote education, health, life skills and peace through sport and play.

Leo Matlock, Partnerships Manager at Right To Play said, “2011 has been a fantastic year for Harlequins on the pitch and their support for Right To Play off of it.  Right To Play would like to say a huge thank you to the club, the staff, the players and the fans for their commitment to changing young people’s lives around the world through sport and play.  We are looking forward to making more progress together in 2012”.

2012 will be a huge year for sport in the UK and is already underway for Quins, so why not get down to the Stoop and support Right To Play’s partner Harlequins Rugby Club.
