Andrew Steele is a talented 400m runner who is widely respected on the International athletics circuit. He has represented his country at most major competitions since 2005. Andrew is a key member of the Men’s 4x 400m relay team to which his energy has been integral in placing the team up there with the best in the world. He qualified for the semi finals of the 400m at the Beijing Olympics and is aiming to improve on that performance.
Andrew had some major health issues post the Olympics and spent the following three years trying to get back to full strength. After having a series of disappointing performances, to his standards, Steele finally found the reason for it all when he learned that he had Epstein-Barr (more widely known as glandular fever). He is now back training again and is looking to get back into the full swing of being a high performance athlete.
Coming across Right To Play at the Beijing Olympics Andrew is always keen to get involved and whether it’s through his athletic talents or his musical ones (Andrew is also a music producer in his spare time), Right To Play is proud to have him as an Athlete Ambassador.
