Eddie is an ex-professional footballer who most notably played for Chelsea Football Club for almost a decade, making 165 appearances and scoring 8 goals. He is currently assistant manger of MK Dons.

After making his way through the Chelsea youth system he was loaned out to Cardiff City in January 1992. Newton famously scored Chelsea's second goal in the 1997 FA Cup final to seal a 2-0 win over Middlesbrough. He won the Cup Winners' Cup and League Cup with the club a year later.

He joined Birmingham City in July 1999 on a free transfer before spending short spells at various lower league clubs, including Oxford United and Barnet.

On 2 July 2008 he was appointed assistant manager to Roberto Di Matteo at MK Dons.

Eddie has been a Right To Play ambassador since May 2007, and has visited Ghana with Right To Play UK.
