Nina Heglund, the team GB playmaker, made her first appearance for GB in 2009. The 1993 born Heglund is originally from Norway, but moved to London to focus on team GB’s preparation for the 2012 Olympics. Handball is sport that is growing in the UK and Nina hopes to help that happen |
We had a chance to catch up with Nina asked her a few questions:
Why Right To Play?
For me it's important that every child gets the chance to participate in sport. Sport has had a massive impact on my childhood. I started playing handball when I was nine, and gained a lot of new friends outside of school, I learnt about teamwork and at the same time kept my body fit. Sport contributed to a healthy environment for me while growing up, and I want to promote how important it is.
Where do you get inspiration from?
I get my inspiration from my granddad, he was a man with many achievements, and made something out of himself!
Best piece of advice you've ever been given?
"Be fearless, and go for it! " advice from my grandma
Best sporting moment?
When we beat Angola (African Champions, 8th place in World champs.) in the Test event at the Olympic Arena with over 2000 supporters cheering!
If you had an open plane ticket, where would you go?
I would go to Australia! it seems like a really different and interesting place. I have always wanted to go there.
