Having joined Right To Play in 2010 Scott has been involved both in the education and athlete management side of things. Having played for Canada in the sport of field hockey, Scott works closely with our athletes here in the UK.
Scott has represented his country over 170 times, competing in the Beijing Olympics and Delhi World Cup. Interestingly enough, if you ask him about the highlights of his sporting career he will talk mostly about things that happened off the field. His involvement in sport goes beyond the competition venue, to his development through working in sport which started in 2004. |
At that time Scott lived in Botswana and South Africa, working with the Botswana Hockey Association and SCORE (sports coaches outreach). Further to this, he became involved in the Kicking AIDS Out! Network and a year later became a trainer of trainers for the network, leading the first ever training courses in the Caribbean and Malawi.
As an advocate for athlete’s standing up for what they believe in Scott has been in leadership roles for AthletesCAN, Field Hockey Canada, and Commonwealth Games Canada. He became the programme director for World at Play, a Sport for Development organisation based in Eastern Europe, and travelled to Bosnia, Serbia, Croatia and Kosovo working alongside partner organisations delivering sport and play opportunities to youth.

My interest in Right To Play has been long standing. Ever since learning about the various ways sport can be used in development. As an athlete I have experienced so much from sport, and to be involved with a leader in the Sport for Development movement is both exciting and rewarding on a regular basis.
