Right To Play helps secure a huge win for millions of girls at the G7

Kevin Frey And Coalition Partners At The G7

The G7 Leadership Summit has recently concluded in Quebec, Canada and I am excited to share some good news from there. G7 Leaders and other international organizations like the World Bank have announced a pledge of $3.8 Billion CAD, earmarked for girls education in emergency contexts.

Right To Play has been part of an NGO coalition that has been lobbying the Government of Canada to encourage G7 Leaders to make this commitment and I am delighted that our advocacy efforts have borne fruit. Watch Right To Play CEO Kevin Frey's message from the G7 Summit:

This is a huge win for millions of girls living in some of the most fragile contexts in the world, and Right To Play is proud to have played a part in securing this pledge.

I was also honored to be able to be in Quebec City for the announcement of this global pledge announced by The Honourable Marie-Claude Bibeau, Minister of Development for Canada. Following the announcement, I participated in a press conference along with four other international development agencies: Plan International, UNICEF, World Vision and Save The Children.

The political and financial commitments made by world leaders today are an excellent step in advancing the rights of the world’s most vulnerable children – especially girls living in conflict and crises.

At Right To Play, we witness the transformative power of education in the lives of the children we reach each day. We know that education saves lives. A safe, quality education is vital to giving all children – especially girls – a place to learn, protect themselves and realize their potential.

Today, global leaders have paved the way for a better future for millions of children. Through these commitments, they have reinforced their support for a world in which children, particularly girls, are empowered and strengthened through education and opportunity. We know that when girls go to school, they can break cycles of violence, conflict and inequality, and transform their lives, the lives of their families and communities.

We are committed to a world in which children’s lives are shaped by their opportunities not by limitations. Your support makes it possible for us to continue to advocate for and deliver on this promise. Together we can unlock the potential in every child and inspire them to rise!

Sincerely,

Kevin Frey
