National Director, The Netherlands
Marije began her career in international development at SCORE in South Africa, one of the early Sport for Development organizations. She then spent 16 years as a member of the international arm of the Dutch Olympic Committee. She joined Right To Play Netherlands in May 2013, as Institutional Relations Manager and Deputy National Director, feeling that she had returned to her roots in international Sport for Development.
Marije has been a highly respected team member in the DNO, among her global RTP colleagues, and in the Dutch sporting world. Some of her successes include securing the first humanitarian assistance grant for sport in Lebanon from the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as extending Sport for Development funding from the Dutch MFA from 2016 to 2019. In addition, Marije has been a key contributor to the Global Institutional Partnership group and its sub-working groups, helping to advise the Executive Team following the most recent organizational restructuring.
